Hi! Welcome to my space on the internet! I am an evolving creature trying to find my Way through life, and hope to share a bit of that with you here.
I am in the process of exploring my girly side. I am slowly becoming comfortable with makeup and wearing things other than jeans and a t-shirt with no fear of ridicule from my peers. I tend to describe myself as a girly-girl trapped in a tomboy's life. For example, I am a corrosion engineer, and I am the only woman engineer in the office.
I love Spartan Races, Ragnar Relays, trail running, and well, anything physical.
Unfortunately, I've had to put all of that on hold for now as I am struggling with some health issues. At first I was diagnosed (again) with Lyme Disease, but now it's turned into fibromyalgia. I have good days and bad days and tend to over-exert myself in my enthusiasm for life. I haven't quite figured out the whole "all things in moderation" idea.
A dear friend from long ago gave me a book of quotes about dreams. One resonates with me deeply as a sailor and as I traverse through my path in live is:
Without dreams, we are rudderless. Dare to chart your own course!
Why Gingko?
The motto of this blog is "learn to sway like the gingko flower" - which is actually a quote from one of my all time favorite cartoons - the Angry Beavers. For me, it means that you sway and accept what comes at you without fighting against it. It's a very Taoist take on life, and I try very hard to live my life that way.
